THIS MONTHS LIBERTY GEM:
Anyone who knows me knows that liberty and justice are never far from my mind, but this week, I’ve thought a lot about sacrifice. With Memorial Day being last Monday and the 78th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy today, I can’t help but think about what it means to be an American- so I’ve been asking. Throughout the past week, I’ve asked a lot of people this question…strangers and friends. I received answers like “having an ideology of liberty and justice,” “believing in the principles of freedom,” “having your rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness protected;” and “liberty above all else.” These are all true answers. But when I asked a Korean War veteran this question last week, his was the answer that pierced my soul the deepest. He thought for a moment then said: “being an American means that you ‘hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. That they are endowed by [our] Creator with certain unalienable rights’ and that means that you give nothing less than everything to secure that.”
Sacrifice.
It has often bothered me that we only allot one day a year to nationally memorialize the men and women who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. When I look at a flag, I am reminded of the sacrifice that it represents. The men and women who have died…and the ones left behind.
Today is the anniversary of D-Day. An event that has been one of my favorite heroic moments is history since I was a child. Against insurmountable odds- weather, choppy seas, and the heavily fortified and exposed beaches of Normandy- the Allied powers launched the largest amphibious assault in history with more than 160,000 troops… and won. But the cost was high. Thousands of soldiers were killed in the first wave and thousands more to follow. 18 hours later, the Allied forces had gained a foot hold in Europe that proved to be the beginning of the rapid end for the Axis.
I think most people think D-Day was a long battle fought over several days as most other great offensives of this size are… but it wasn’t. Though its planning began almost as soon as France fell to the Nazi’s in 1940, the battle itself was 18 hours. In 18 hours, the tide of the war had changed.

Dear Liberty-Lovers,
After not sending anything out last Monday, I received many emails and texts about continuing to send out my weekly email; so I have decided to continue sending out the Rachel Report on the first Monday of the month.
Tomorrow will mark three weeks since primaries and lots has happened! I have spoken with many people who are concerned that since the election, most of us conservatives have accepted defeat and “checked out” of the political scene. I am here to assure you that is not so.
In fact, groups have been working tirelessly behind the scenes on election integrity investigations, new bills to introduce in the legislature next session, and “flipping” the Party platform side of politics back under conservative leadership.
The latter is what I’d like to discuss today. The past few weeks have been spent electing new people to positions in the County and Region Republican Committees and gearing up to elect conservatives in the State Central Committee (SCC) for the Republican Platform.
And I am excited to announce that I am now a part of the Canyon County Republican Central Committee (CCRCC) and the State Central Committee as the new Youth Chair for Canyon County!
This is a position I was elected to last week for the next two years by the new Canyon County Precinct Committeeman who were elected in the primary election. Now, rather than working on the legislative side in the House, I will work on the Platform side in the Central Committees.
Before I explain what I will be doing in this new role, I want to offer a little breakdown of the Republican Party Platform in case you are unfamiliar with how it all works- as I was.
Working bottom up, every two years at the primary election, new Precinct Committeeman are elected and the week following, they gather in their districts and counties throughout the state and elect new officers for the Party.
At the district level, each of the 35 districts throughout Idaho elect their own officers (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer), however, the only one who holds a seat in the SCC are the Chairmen.
The county elects a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, State Committeeman, State Committeewoman, and Youth Chair. Each of these seven officers are part of the State Central Committee as well as hold those positions for their counties.
The SCC is comprised of the State Executive Board which consists of the Chairman, 1st Vice Chairman, 2nd Vice Chairman, National Committeeman, National Committeewoman, Secretary, Treasurer, Region Chairman (7 officers), State Finance Chair, Young Republican Chair, Idaho Women’s Federation President, President of College Republicans, every District Chairman (35 officers), every County Chairman, every County State Committeeman, every County State Committeewoman, and every County Youth Chair.
Each month, county committees meet to work through Party issues at the local and county levels and twice a year, Executive Board members and appointed delegates from each county meet for conventions.
Okay, why is this all significant? Because it is at the State Central Committee conventions that Party platform issues are decided.
Again, why is this significant? Well, Party Platform statues are the confines legislators who represent the Republican Party are supposed to adhere to when drafting, amending, and passing bills.
Any alteration to the Republican Platform happens through a vote at the State Central Committee conventions twice each year. And as a new member of the Executive Board, I am honored to be able to vote to ensure we retain the integrity of the Republican Platform for the sake of our children, county, and state.
As Youth Chair for Canyon County, I represent voters between the ages 18 and 40. My job will consist of rallying voters in this age bracket, serving on the CCRCC and SCC, voting at state conventions, and helping safeguard the integrity of the Republican Platform for the next two years.
I’ve said it before, but our state and our Republican values are under attack. Liberalism is trying to make its way into the legislature, our schools, and, I’m realizing, our Party. Liberal ideology is infiltrating our Party Platform and we have to stop it.

Saturday, June 11th, at 9:30am the Idaho Liberty Dogs are hosting a march at Cecil D Andrus Park- 601 W. Jefferson St. Boise to support our Second Amendment rights!
Tuesday, June 14th is Flag Day! Idaho Young Republicans are hosting a Flag Day celebration and BBQ with free food from 5pm-7pm on the Basque Block in downtown Boise- W. Grove St. Boise, 83702.

Wednesday, June 29th, is the God and Country Family Festival! Come see us at the Canyon County Republicans booth at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa! Doors open at 5:30 and admission is free! I have been attending this festival for the past 15 years of my life and it proves to be just as wonderful, Christ-centered, and patriotic every year! Come take part in great Christian music, military appreciation, yummy food, the largest firework show in Treasure Valley, and like-minded fellowship! (Tip: Prepare to buy cold waters and bring hats, sunscreen, umbrellas for the sun, and a blanket to sit on)
Monday, July 4th, there are lots of fun events going on! The Caldwell parade begins at 9am at Memorial Park. Before that is the flag (costume) 5k run that I will be running in! The Middleton Parade is also that day at 11am! There are lots of fun celebrations, 5k runs, and firework shows that take place on the 4th throughout Idaho! Look at your local city for details on a celebration close to you!

GEM Continued:
For the June 6th invasion, General Eisenhower issued an order to encourage the men taking part in the invasion. In it he wrote: “The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you… We will accept nothing less than full victory!”
Allied troops were asked to make the greatest sacrifice for the sake of the free world… for “liberty-loving” people everywhere. And sacrifice they did.
What has always struck me about the Battle of Normandy, was that the soldiers who went…went knowing full well they would probably not survive. Yet they went. Why? Frank Devita, who was one of the first soldiers at 19 years old to storm Omaha Beach, answered that question in an interview on the 75th D-Day anniversary by saying, “to win the war.”
Is there anything more American than that? Does that not perfectly encapsulate the American character? When liberty is on the line, Americans give “nothing less than everything” and beat the odds.

The Democrat Party has rooted itself in Idaho. And rest assured- it’s here to stay.
The past few weeks, God has opened up so many opportunities to continue fighting for this state of ours and I’m so honored that I get to serve the people of Canyon County and Idaho in this role.
We fought hard every day leading to primary elections, but just because the vote has been decided, does not mean that we ease off the throttle. I am still giving 100% of my fight, determination, and passion to Idaho in hopes of retaining our sacred liberties and keeping our home conservative. I have been so excited and encouraged by the amount of people on fire in this state that are ready to keep our home RED!
Let’s continue to stand up for what’s right in our homes, churches, communities, and this beautiful state. I never want to take for granted the liberties we enjoy here- because that’s when we start to lose them.
Last weekend, we drove to northern Idaho for an adventure in the mountains. Driving through the rolling hills, vibrant green farmland, past lakes, over rivers, and through the endless trees reminded me yet again what a gem our Gem State is. Out in the mountains, I took a deep breath and again was struck with the feeling of how blessed I am to call this place home.
Staring out over the mountainside and stream of icy mountain runoff, I thought “this land is my home. And I’ll be darned if I ever sit by and let it slip away.”
I am realizing just how essential it is that we work to ensure our Republican Platform stays conservative here in Idaho.
As I’ve been thinking on sacrifice the past week, I’ve taken a hard look at my life trajectory. The dreams and aspirations I have long held for my life look different now. All I can see is how much I love this country and state and fighting for it.
I don’t know what God has for my future, but as I mentioned in my last email, I do know that it’s standing for what’s right.
On this day 78 years ago in Normandy, it took an army of brave men 18 hours to get a foothold on Europe and change the war. Idaho, we have an army ready to reclaim our conservative foothold on our state and country and win this war for the hearts and minds of America.
For the men and women who stood before us and the children who are coming after us… we offer nothing less than everything and accept nothing less than full victory.

On that day June 6, 1944 President Franklin D Roosevelt adressed the nation about the Normandy invation in form of a prayer here is the full text prayer where some of his powerful words are perfectly auited for our current reality:
“My fellow Americans: Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.
And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer:
Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.
Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.
They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.
They will be sore tried, by night and by day, without rest-until the victory is won. The darkness will be rent by noise and flame. Men’s souls will be shaken with the violences of war.

Many people have urged that I call the Nation into a single day of special prayer. But because the road is long and the desire is great, I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts.
Give us strength, too — strength in our daily tasks, to redouble the contributions we make in the physical and the material support of our armed forces.
And let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be.
And, O Lord, give us Faith. Give us Faith in Thee; Faith in our sons; Faith in each other; Faith in our united crusade. Let not the keenness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events, of temporal matters of but fleeting moment let not these deter us in our unconquerable purpose.
With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogancies. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister Nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.
Thy will be done, Almighty God.
